Believe it or not, National City is a haven for bees. The eastern portion of the city is comprised of canyons and ridges filled with wildlife, including bees. In addition, the bees have a plentiful water supply with a little over 20% of its nine square miles being comprised by water from sources like the Sweetwater River which empties into the San Diego Bay. Being a coastal town we find the majority of our swarm calls come a little bit later in the year than the inland areas. This is probably due to the cooler climate from being so close to the ocean. One common call we get from National City is when bees have decided to make a hive in a tree. Whenever we get these calls we always try to relocate the bees to a bee farm. If a swarm just landed in a tree on your property, give us a call so we can provide live, humane bee removal.
